Cogeneration
Our knowledge in the field of cogeneration originates from the personal passion of Orzali, who, since the time of his dissertation, has delved into the study and application of these plants in the paper industry.
Over the course of our experience, we have developed expertise in three different plant types:
Gas turbines for steam production
During the CIP 6/92 period, the use of gas turbines for combined power and steam generation was particularly widespread in the paper industry.
In the early years of our activity, we had the opportunity to follow the entire process of design, installation, commissioning and start-up of a Solar plant, which was considered state-of-the-art for the time. This path gave us direct insight into the electrical issues and challenges involved in steam production, running two generators in parallel.
More recent installations have included 12 MW LT12 (later GE and Baker Hughes) Pignone turbines, used for steam production and sludge drying by flue gas recovery.
Endothermic gas engines
We have followed several engine installations, with a focus on thermal recoveries in the paper production cycle.
Among other applications, we have worked with engines of various sizes from 1.5 MW Deutz, for steam production only, 1.487 MW Jenbacher, with HT and LT steam production and recovery, 2 MWw and 4.3 MW MW MWM, with HT and LT steam production and recovery, 1.54 and 3.2 Caterpillar with HT and LT steam production and recovery..
In particular, we followed the part of electrical connection to the plant grid, parallel or island operation, and interruptibility.
We also took care of the steam mplant integration of the second generator, with PED directive application and INAIL paperwork.
In addition, we have optimized thermal recoveries of HT and LT water carriers, with trigeneration applications for 7 - 12°C chilled water production.
Gas turbines integrated with Air System
The most recent installations are based on the use of gas turbines designed to power the hood system, a recovery boiler for steam production, an air/water exchanger intended for an absorber to produce chilled water, and, finally, an exchanger for thermoventilation of the room.
We built plants with 1.8 MW OPRA turbines and 5.4 MW Centrax turbines, taking special care of integration with the power grid and plant infrastructure.
In one of the projects, we also handled the need to temporarily limit power input to the grid due to constraints related to upgrading the distribution network.
We give answers to the world of industry, paper and pulp.
